    Common Questions

Below, you will find answers to frequently asked questions. Please, explore this section to get more information about our laboratory tests, procedures, and services.

Lipid profile requires fasting for 12-14 hours before a test procedure to complete the absorption of lipids and achieve the stability of their levels in the blood.

Fasting blood sugar requires fasting for 6-8 hours before a test procedure to complete the burning of sugar in the blood and collect a blood sample while a patient is still fasting.

This test requires monitoring a 2Hrs period since the start of the food intake, which should be completed within 10 minutes at most, to synchronize the secretion of insulin with eating. If a patient is on diabetes treatment, it shall be taken unless instructed otherwise by the attending physician. During the 2 Hrs period, a patient can only drink water.

On the day of the test, having fasted for 6-8 hours prior, a patient must come to the lab in the morning and take a dose of glucose (1.75 g/1kg of weight, up to a maximum of 75g) to do the testing. It is not allowed to smoke during the test procedure.

Decreasing fluid intake in the evening before the day of the test is important so that the hormone concentration does not decrease. The first urine in the morning is preferred because the pregnancy hormone (HCG) is more concentrated. If the test result is negative, we suggest a blood pregnancy test because it is more sensitive.
